MAKI (Maria Kiesling).

RAKU - a special freestyle kilning process:
RAKU is a very special originally Japanese kilning process that involves MAKI looking like this for special protection when the flaming red 950ºCelsisus hot ceramic pieces come out of her special RAKU kiln.

The hot ceramic pieces then go into a reduction burn...

...once all the smoke has cleared MAKI has check the still very hot ceramic pieces for correct cracking...

...if the reduction burn is completed successfully the ceramic pieces are taken out...

...and then slowly submerged in cold water...

... once the pieces are completely cool they are washed, dried and installed:
